What is Luxury in a Home Plan?

By Dan Gregory

This Craftsman-inspired home has luxury details like a timber-framed portico, a pergola, country kitchen, walk-in pantry, and huge laundry. Plan 132-207

Luxury should be about more than extra space, fancy fittings, or rich materials. It should include well-designed features that enhance your enjoyment of home, as shown here.

Plan 132-207, below (and at the top of this post) has only 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths but offers a gracious and flexible flow between rooms, a large entertaining kitchen, an elegant timber framed entry, and a dining pergola with an outdoor fireplace.

Plan 48-468, below, has 4 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. There are separate wings for the garage, the shop, and the master suite. A spacious entertaining kitchen connects to a lanai.

Plan 137-282 has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths and includes a library in the master suite as well as a small study near the kitchen.
